When I joined AANP, there was no in-house development team. It was just me and a few vendor contracts. Over time, I built the team from zero - hiring developers, project managers, and a data analyst. I'm proud to say the majority of my team stayed with me for the long term.
Seven people who worked together to support 120,000 nurse practitioners using our systems daily (and nightly!) for education, advocacy and networking.
Building a team isn't just about hiring. It's about establishing best practices, creating a safe and inclusive environment, and offering opportunities to learn and grow. Building a culture where people want to do good work, and maybe have a bit of fun. That's the part I'm proudest of.
